Dalton State College basketball stretches streak to 12 victories

Dalton State College’s men’s basketball team held a healthy lead through much of Saturday’s game and won 84-73 versus Belhaven University in the last day of the Carpet City Christmas Classic.

The Roadrunners improve to 14-1 in their first season of basketball in 35 years and now have won 12 straight games.

Dalton State led 31-15 in the first half after Sean Tate’s 3-pointer and the lead extended until halftime, where the Roadrunners led 53-32.

Ricky Sears led Dalton State with 17 points, while Demetrice Jacobs (16) and Tate (14) also reached double-digit point totals.

Belhaven’s Jordan Bedford led all players with 20 points.
