Valuable lessons

Frank Pinson, left, hugs Angela Harris, assistant vice president for enrollment services at Dalton State College, after Harris spoke at Mack Gaston Community Center on Monday afternoon. Pinson, a former Dalton High School basketball standout, is hosting a youth basketball camp this week at the center, and each day will conclude with a 4 p.m. lecture on the theme “Hard Work Pays Off.” The lectures are free and open to the public. Remaining speakers are Steve Laird, Dalton Public Schools Board of Education member (today); Tom Pinson of the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department (Wednesday); and Dr. Pablo Perez of the St. Joseph Clinic (Thursday). On Friday, campers and coaches will speak about what they’ve learned.
