Jamie Jones: WWE makes changes to roster

Here are the notes and news items from the week in pro wrestling: WWE had a huge roster purge on Thursday.

Getting the boot were Aksana, Evan Bourne, Brodus Clay, Camacho, referee Marc Harris, Curt Hawkins, Teddy Long, 3MB members Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre, plus Yoshi Tatsu.

• Here comes another reality show with a pro wrestling tie-in.

“Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge” debuts at 9 p.m. on July 6 on CMT.

“The brain-child of wrestling icon Steve Austin, the 10-episode series pits elite athletes against everyday men and women in the ultimate test of strength, stamina and wit,” according to a CMT press release. “Each episode features eight contestants in head-to-head battles, until the last man or woman standing earns the right to take on the toughest obstacle course in America created by Austin himself, the ‘Skullbuster,’ for a chance to win cash.”

The Local Corner: Renegade Championship Wrestling is at 8 p.m. Saturdays at 806 Second Ave. in Chatsworth.

Southern Style Pro Wrestling is at 8 p.m. Saturdays at 4484 Highway 411 N., next to Eton Flea Market near the Ferris wheel. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and older and free for children 12 and younger.
