Dalton Dolphins top rivals in CASL meet

The Dalton Dolphins defeated top rival Signal Mountain 398-366 Thursday night in Tennessee to stake sole claim to first place in the Chattanooga Area Swim League.

“It’s always big when we come up here and win at their place, because we’re a lot stronger at home,” said Charles Todd, the youth swimming and diving team’s head coach.

Ava Whited led the Dolphins, who improved to 2-0, with 17 individual points. Also scoring in double digits were Reese Bingham and Franco Valdez (12 points apiece); and Henry Bethel, Raul Valdez and Ethan Young (10 points apiece).

The Dolphins (2-0) return to competition Monday, hosting Stuart Heights at 5:30 p.m. at the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department’s John Davis Recreation Center.

The Dolphins’ meet against Tennessee’s Ooltewah on June 5 was not completed because of inclement weather. The Dolphins trail 158-155 and the meet will be resumed July 10 at Ooltewah’s pool.
