Young finishes seventh among elite in Orlando

Dalton High School sophomore Ethan Young finished seventh overall in the 100-meter backstroke and was the top American finisher at the Arena Grand Prix swimming championships in Orlando, Fla.

Swimming for the Carpet Capital Aquatics Club, Young swam a time of 56 seconds, 97 hundredths to make it into the top eight for the championship A race and swam a 57.37 in the finals. Russian Olympian Arkady Vyatchanin won the championship with a time of 54.07.

Also competing from the CCAC was Bryant Mathis, who finished 28th overall while racing in the C finals in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:07.56.
