Jamie Jones: Thursday night showdown coming

Here are the notes and new items from the week in pro wrestling: C.M. Punk is vanishing from WWE. Punk, who is rumored to have left the organization, had his bio removed from WWE’s website.

Some have speculated Punk quit WWE because he is upset with his spot in the company, while others think his “departure” is just part of the show.

• This fall, TNA will have a lot more competition on Thursday nights. CBS will air the first eight NFL Thursday night games during the 2014 season. Pro football is sure to cut into TNA’s viewership.

• Batista is being advertised for WWE’s “Extreme Rules” pay-per-view, which follows “Wrestlemania” in May.

The Local Corner: Renegade Champion-ship Wrestling is at 8 p.m. Saturdays at 806 Second Ave. in Chatsworth.

Southern Style Pro Wrestling is at 8 p.m. Saturdays at 4484 Highway 411 N., next to Eton Flea Market near the Ferris wheel. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and older and free for children 12 and younger.

Trivia Teaser: Who was the first Mexican-American wrestler to win the WWE Intercontinental title?

Check back next week for the answer.

Last week’s question: Where did Roman Reigns play college football?

Reigns (Joe Anoa’i) was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference defensive tackle at Georgia Tech.

Jamie Jones wants to see a match pitting Roman Reigns against Goldberg (who played defensive tackle at Georgia). You can contact him at jamiejones@daltoncitizen.com or (706) 272-7723.
