Dalton grad Rector earns national honor

Former Dalton High School basketball standout Amanda Rector was recently honored as an All-American by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.

Rector, who is a junior point guard at Chattanooga’s Tennes-see Temple University and was the The Daily Citizen’s All-Area Girls Basketball Player of the Year in 2011, was named to the second team by the Division I coaches of the USCAA. She averaged 16 points per game and nearly four rebounds and assists per game for the Lady Crusaders, who finished the season 16-14.

The USCAA is a national organization designed to give smaller colleges and universities the opportunity to compete for regional and national titles. There are 29 women’s basketball teams in the USCAA.
