Cohutta's Mansfield in running for Super Senior

SPOKANE, Wash. — Cohutta’s David Mansfield shot a 4-over-par 76 and was tied for eighth after the first round of the Georgia State Golf Association’s Super Senior Championship on Tuesday in Atlanta.

Don Marsh of Johns Creek was the only player to shoot under par, carding a 2-under 70 in the opening round, which is taking place at Piedmont Driving Club.

First-flight competitor Stephen Schwartz of Savannah sits two strokes back at even par, while defending champion Dick Van Leuvan of Roswell and Jim Kamis of Marietta are tied for third at 74.

Dalton’s Chris Hall shot an 87, while Gary Cole of Dalton shot a 90.

The final round of the tournament tees off today at 8 a.m. with the leaders starting at 2:10 p.m.
