DSC women’s tennis sweeps

Dalton State College’s women’s tennis team won 5-0 against the Northwestern College Red Raiders on Friday at the Professional Tennis Registry’s Spring TennisFest Tournament in Hilton Head, S.C. Inclement weather forced the match to stop before the last four singles matches concluded.

In doubles action, Chelsea Powell and Laura Winter won 8-1 in the No. 1 match for Dalton State (6-2). No. 2 Diana Narino and Daniela Sanchez won 8-3 and No. 3 Maria Alejandra Bejarano and Lindsay McCutchen won 8-3. In singles, No. 1 Winter won 8-4 and No. 3 Sanchez won 8-1.

The men’s tennis team lost 8-3 to the University of Findlay (Ohio) on Thursday at the tournament. Inclement weather forced the match to be moved to an indoor court. The Roadrunners’ lone victory came from Hadyn Fava, who won 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 at No. 6 singles.
