DSC men's tennis finishes year with close loss

The Dalton State College men’s tennis team lost 5-4 on Sunday at the Lakeshore Park Tennis Center against the Savannah College of Arts and Design Atlanta.

The match concludes the season for the Roadrunners (13-6).

Adam Hornsby and Nikolay Nikiforov won the No. 1 doubles match for Dalton State with an 8-6 win against Mikalah Vea and Joseph Dwyer. The Roadrunners’ three singles wins were: No. 1 Nikiforov, 6-3, 6-7, 10-4, against Vea; No. 5 Lucas de Souza, 6-0, 6-1, against Denzil Hollis; and No. 6 Hadyn Fava, 6-4, 6-3, against Takaaki Imoto.

The teams played earlier this season — and the team score was the same — but Dalton State was the victor.

Dalton State is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics this year but its sports are ineligible for postseason accomplishments. The school will compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference next school year.
