Middle school roundup: Christian Heritage boys golf wins conference title

Christian Heritage’s boys golf team won the Independent School Conference’s Advanced Division championship on Thursday at Moccasin Bend Golf Club.

The Lions shot a 167 team score, 24 strokes better than Boyd Buchanan (191) and Silverdale (191). Collegedale Adventist Middle School finished fourth.

Levi Jolly shot a 39 on the nine-hole course and was the tournament medalist. Chapman Painter (41), Hardin Chambless (43) and Will Hooper (44) also scored for Christian Heritage.


Christian Heritage 20, Lookout Valley 2: The Lions earned a first-round playoffs win Thursday with 19 runs through the opening three innings.

Jack Ridley’s RBI single started the scoring, and Preston Poag’s RBI groundout in the second inning added to the rout. Nate Bonner had two RBIs, and Christian Humphrey earned the win as Christian Heritage’s pitcher. He threw three innings of shutout ball, allowed two hits and three walks while striking out two.

After building a 9-0 lead through two innings, Christian Heritage scored 10 runs in the third. Humphrey’s single was the first of the inning, and Christian Koneman followed with an RBI single.
