Middle school roundup: Christian Heritage, North Whitfield close season with championship wins

Christian Heritage’s middle school baseball team beat Chattanooga Christian School 6-1 on Monday to win the Chattanooga-based Independent School Conference championship.

The Lions reached the tournament title game with a 20-2 win over Lookout Valley in Thursday’s opening round and a 2-0 victory against Silverdale Baptist Academy in Friday’s semifinals.

In the championship, Zach Gentry went 2-for-3 with a triple and was the winning pitcher, allowing one run in four innings. Christian Heritage’s Nick Hagin struck out four in three scoreless innings on the mound.

Both teams scored a run in the third inning, but the Lions went up for good with a five-run fifth.

In Friday’s win, Hagin pitched a complete-game victory. Cade Vice had a pair of doubles and Jaret Staten added a sacrifice fly for the Lions.

In Thursday’s victory, Christian Humphrey was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and striking out two in three innings.

North Whitfield 10, Westside 1: The Pioneers capped a 14-0 season with their win in the North Georgia Middle School Athletic League championship game on Saturday at Coahulla Creek High School.

Eli Turson had 10 strikeouts and allowed three hits as he earned the complete-game victory.

Ethan Arnold, Will Douglas and Donovan Sims each drove in two runs for North Whitfield, and Douglas also had two hits.

Westside did not report statistics by The Daily Citizen’s deadline.
