Middle school roundup: Christian Heritage rolling on golf course

Christian Heritage’s middle school boys golf team had a strong week with two victories.

The Lions played Tuesday at Bear Trace and won with a 180 team score, 12 strokes better than Boyd-Buchanan and also beating Silverdale (208) and Collegedale Adventist (229).

Will Hooper was the medalist with a 41 on the nine-hole, par-36 course. Christian Heritage’s other scorers were Hardin Chambliss (45), Chapman Painter (46) and Levi Jolly (48).

Christian Heritage won two days later at Creeks Bend, another par-36 course. The Lions had a team score of 178, seven strokes better than Boyd-Buchanan and also beating Silverdale (196) and Collegedale Adventist (221).

Chambliss was the medalist with a 4-over 40. Christian Heritage’s other scorers were Painter (45), Hooper (45) and Jolly (48).

Baseball

Dalton 8, Ringgold 7: The Cougars stayed perfect through four games this season with a late-inning rally.

Dalton took a 7-6 lead in the sixth and then won with a walk-off wild pitch in the seventh inning. Caleb Ramsey singled, stole second and third and scored after a Ringgold wild pitch.

Cade Gabriel earned the win in relief and finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Harrison Hughes was 2-for-3 and scored twice. Justin Ketchum added an RBI.

n Gladden 14, Eastbrook 0: Preston Vanmeter threw a no-hitter for Gladden in the team’s win Friday at Murray Field in Chatsworth.

Eastbrook coaches did not report statistics by The Daily Citizen’s deadline.

New Hope 16, Gladden 0: In Thursday’s game at Murray Field, Sebastian Orozco’s big day helped New Hope to a win.

Orozco finished 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs. Jack Brock also went 3-for-3 with one RBI and Jacob Sangster finished 2-for-2 with an RBI. David Ramirez added two RBIs from his 2-for-4 day. Eli Nance, Seth Godfrey and Dillon Clark each had one RBI.

On the mound, Chris Cunningham pitched four innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three.
